Geofoam refers to the use of polystyrene as light weight structural fill in roading and construction and is sometimes known by the brand name Polyrock.
This technology, although relatively new to New Zealand, is gaining wider acceptance amongst builders and engineers as a cost effective and acceptable solution.
Polystyrene weighs approximately 1/100th of standard fill and virtually elimates lateral pressure and vertical movement that is typical with other types of fill.
